What is Love?

Have you ever been in love? How do you know? What is to say that it isn’t just infatuation, lust, or desire confused for love? Is your lover always on your mind? Do they make your heart smile just thinking about them? Does it pain you to be away from them for mere hours? How do you know that you are in love?
I’m in love. I know it. I’ve never felt this way before about anyone. You never know what true love is until it hits you like a ton of bricks. Daily we express to each other how much we love each other as though it is still the first day being together. We are still as strong today as the first, and more in love today than yesterday. It astounds me. I am in awe of the ‘us’ that we are. We don’t let the other fall because we have what the other needs. Where I am lacking, she is strong, and where she is lacking, I am strong. We fit together like Yin and Yang.
I couldn’t tell you before what love is. I could tell you what I thought it was, but before I was jaded. This is love. It is not always happy, not always perfect, and not always what you hope it to be, but at the same time it is more than that. If I live every day waking up to my heart, I will be happy every day of my life. Even those days when I am not happy, I am truly happy having her by my side. She keeps me at peace, eases my nerves, and brings utter joy to my life. I have never laughed as hard as I laugh with her. I really laugh; it’s not a little laugh, a fake laugh, or a complimentary laugh: it is a real laugh. Sometimes you do not even know that you really do not laugh until you really do. It’s amazing.
Love is patient, love is kind….Love is everything good in this world even when everything seems bad. If you do not experience love in your life, I feel sorry for you. All the riches in the world cannot possibly make you as happy as you are when you are truly in love. Companionship will assure that you are never alone, but love will assure that you are never lonely.
